Is online gambling legal in Australia in 2026?
Some of it is. Online sports and racing betting with an Australian-licensed bookmaker is legal, and so are lotteries. What the Interactive Gambling Act prohibits
The IGA is aimed at operators, not players. It makes it an offence to provide prohibited interactive gambling services to customers in Australia, including online casino games and pokies, and to provide wagering services without an Australian licence. It also bans advertising those services in Australia. Penalties for companies can run into millions of dollars per day.
